FAQ

Where are you located?

The Traveling Tavern is based out of Portland, Oregon and will travel up to three hours from there. (If you’re vowing your love on top of a mountain and need us to have the party set up at the bottom, we’ll probably travel further for that.)

How does it work?

The Traveling Tavern operates in two ways. Most commonly, we work with you to determine your needs for the event; cocktails, beer, wine, quantities, number of guests, and the duration of the event. We’ll come up with a plan for how much alcohol will be needed and curate cocktails based on your preference. After that, we make a list that you can take to the liquor store or beer distributor to easily purchase the alcohol. Your wedding coordinator or trusted friend will pick up the alcohol and bring it to the event 3 hours before the wedding. We will start batching your cocktails, setting up kegs, and preparing everything to serve you and your guests. This is the more affordable option as there is no up-charge on the alcohol but requires more dedicated planning.

The other option is for the Traveling Tavern to provide all of the alcohol. For an additional fee, we can pull a temporary liquor license for the day. We can have the permit approved as long as you will have food provided at your event and it’s under 300 people. This license allows us to do the liquor shopping for you and take care of every detail.

What kind of beverages are available?

Almost anything! We have a kegerator that can fit either 3 pony kegs or a single half-barrel keg for draft beer, cider, or seltzers. We can accommodate any cocktails or mocktails of your choosing, as well as wine, sodas, ciders, you name it.

What do you need to set up?

We require a flat ground for set-up and service and unobstructed access upon set-up and break-down to enter and leave the location. We also need a standard 120v/20amp electrical hookup. If you are eloping in a remote area without electricity, we can provide a generator at an additional cost or forgo the kegs and do everything on ice.

How big is the trailer and where can we put it?

The Traveling Tavern is 10 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 6.5 feet tall.

As long as you have a permit for your event or it’s on private property, the cart can go in a field, in a barn, on a driveway, parking lot, by a lake, or at the base of a mountain. We will travel up to 15 miles outside of Portland free of charge. We charge $2 per mile after that.

How much time is necessary before booking an event?

If we need to apply for the temporary liquor license, we will need at least 4 weeks prior to your event.
